Altenloh, Brinck & Co was founded in 1823 and was the first company to undertake the industrial production of screws in Germany. In 1967 the company revolutionised the industry with the invention of the SPAX universal screw, which has since conquered the world.

Since then, the SPAX range has been continually developed and improved and has spread around the globe. SPAX is specified by architects, engineers and builders throughout Europe, America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
